Hi Jan, You can learn more about beak deformities on our Unusual Birds page. It’s unknown what causes this, but it is being studied by researchers in Alaska.
It’s fascinating to observe migrating birds up close, but identifying diseases without more information or symptoms is challenging; consulting a local wildlife expert or vet would be best to ensure accurate diagnosis and care.
