Diseased Bird: House finch eye disease

The female finches eye remained closed during the entire observation. The male had an odd way of looking around while feeding. Although the affected eye was open, there were fewer feathers around it, and it looked swollen. I have been watching for eye disease over the past few years when I first noticed it about 5 years ago. This is the first incidence I have seen since that time.
