Sick Bird: House Finch Eye Disease

By chance, I noticed that I had a photo of this House Finch [#1] with an apparent eye infection sitting atop a shepherd’s hook that holds a tray of Safflower seed. Searched other recent pics and found what may be a 2nd finch with the disease taken six days apart. These are the first captures that I have found with eye infected House finches out of hundreds taken over more than a year at my Safflower feeders just outside my home office window.That’s not to say they weren’t around, but never this evident.
