Hello, Pat, from someone in the same region. This is my second year observing this infection in the house finches that visit my feeders. Last year, it made me quite anxious, wondering if I should remove my feeders, but most birds apparently healed on their own. I now focus on lessening their stress as much as possible by continuing to provide easy access to food. I also disinfect the feeders and contact surfaces frequently.
