Sick Bird: House Finch with conjunctivitis in left eye
This male house finch has restricted use of its left eye due to conjunctivitis. Regular visitors to my feeders were particularly edgy due to “raids” by common grackles. As a result, I was not able to photograph this individual’s right eye. From observations a few days earlier, up to 3 male house finches are affected. In one case, the infection is in both eyes. No house finch females have shown conjunctivitis infections for the past few weeks. I am monitoring closely, to the extent possible.
