Diseased Bird: injured(?) magpie
Additional images:
this bird is a daily feeder at suet feeders. it behaves normally and is as vigorous as other magpies. it has a pronounced hump back and almost always holds it’s wings away from it’s body when standing on the ground or when perched. it often rests it’s body on a branch as if roosting when perched even briefly(see photo).
we first noticed it about 14 days ago. it’s usually in a group of 3 to 5 magpies at the feeders, part of a larger flock of several dozen in the area all year.
