Diseased Bird: Mourning Dove with broken or defective leg
I have seen this dove for many weeks, a member of a flock of eight other Mourning Doves. However, this past weekend (during my bird count on Dec. 22), I have not seen it at the feeder, nor have I since. S/he held the leg at very awkward angles, and also appeared more puffed than the other birds, albeit it has been very cold.

At my feeder for several weeks now, is a mourning dove with a limp seeming to favor the right leg and is usually sepatated from the group. Wondering if otgers have seen this and if it may be a common defect in mourning doves.
There is a mourning dove in my yard walking with his wings, not legs. Is there anything i can do
Hello June, Thanks for reaching out! If you see a bird that appears to be compromised in some way, perhaps due to sickness or injury, do not try to care for the bird yourself. You can try to take it to your local wildlife rehabilitator. Only veterinarians or federally licensed wildlife rehabilitators can legally treat wild birds.
