Diseased Bird: Northern Cardinal missing foot

I noticed one of the female Cardinals at my site had an injured foot late December 2025. I watched over the course of the next 2 weeks as it became dead and fell off the bird so that she now only has one foot. She still gets around well since she is fully flighted and still has her mate. I attribute her good healing in part because she has easy access to food via my bird feeders (she is a daily visitor).
