Sick Bird: Sick finch

There are several sick goldfinches in our neighborhood. I removed food yesterday when we noticed. Legs are swollen and red, feathers fluffed, and birds hobble on the ground and seem to have trouble flying. One had visible breathing difficulties. No idea what it could be. Neighbors had a dead bird in their yard this morning.
