Sick Bird: Survivor Dove

Meet Survivor Dove (a male, I think?)

This dove was visiting our feeders from December through the end of January, 2022. He mostly visited on his own, and didn’t seem to hang around with the other doves. His right wing stuck up, and his right foot stuck out to the side. He limped when he walked, and seemed to rest on his underside while feeding.

He had no trouble flying, though, and recently narrowly escaped an attack by a hawk.

Sadly, we haven’t seen him in a couple of weeks, so I assume whatever ailed him finally finished him off. He’ll be missed.
