I spotted this bird in my yard on December 1, 2013 at approximately 8:25 a.m. and did not recognize it as any I had seen before. Luckily I had a camera set up by the window while I was observing birds for my weekly Project Feederwatch count and was able to get a photo so I could identify it later. I took note of its features, especially the eye, and looked it up on allaboutbirds.org. I learned that it is a female non-breeding Rusty Blackbird. I have never seen this before and it has not returned since i saw it that day. It is a life bird for me!
