1st spotted 11-09-18 backyard spruce tree next to saucer of sunflower chips. A male with the red patch. I did not get a photo at that time. Have had the female almost daily since then. This submitted photo 12-21-18 (not 12-18-18) is of the male, second sighting. They love the grapes we put out. I assume red patch is always visible but only raised when agitated or courting. My photo software lumps some photos together with same date.
