This bird visited our backyard for the day. I couldn’t find anything like it in my field guide of New York Birds, but I happened to have the Winter Bird Highlights 2012-2013 on my desk. Looks very much like the Common Chaffinch highlighted on page 4.
Under the feeder.
This is indeed a male Chaffinch (Fringilla colebs), pink breast, grey collar, dull greenish wings. Great find! Beautiful bird
