Rare Bird: Eurasian Tree Sparrow
Please find attached a photograph of the Eurasian Tree Sparrow that was at my feeder on Saturday. It was feeding with 3 English Sparrows at a feeder less than 10 ft from my window so identification and comparisons were pretty straight forward. As you can see, the bird has a chestnut coloured crown (rather than grey), black ear and throat patches, a thin white wing bar and a brown back streaked with black. It returned to that feeder a couple of times and then sat on a pile of brush in sunlight about 25 ft away.
