Rare Bird: Hermit Thrush
This is a repeat visitor over many years, appearing only during winters, who visits for a quick drink or short bath. It’s a small turdiform, looking not much larger than the white-throated sparrows nearby, with a delicate sharp bill, uniform light brown coloring on the back and head, and speckled breast. It does not visit feeders or interact with the other birds. It flies in and out at a low height, just above the bushes, but doesn’t seem to forage among the bushes. We have never seen more than one at a time.
