Description

I took this picture at Steigerwald NWR, which is one of my favorite places for wildlife. The company I had with me believed in fast walking, which meant I was left far behind when I stopped to look at some distant grebes. As I was hurrying to catch up, I saw a saw a small bird sitting in a tree a short way down the trail. As I pulled out my camera to take a picture, I recognized it as an American Kestrel. I took several pictures, but this one was my favorite.
