Was able to get nice and close, to these two Northern Flickers doing a mating dance. Very unusual to get this close; however they were obviously quite occupied. 🙂

Great photo!
Through many years of seeing Flickers, only once have I seen the dance with the male bobbing and moving back and forth on a big white pine limb as the female watched. That’s how I recall it from many years ago.
Have you been fortunate to see it more than the time you took the photo?
Can you recall any details? I didn’t even expect woodpeckers to have a mating dance.
