Description

Hooded Mergansers fall into that category of duck where the males get all the love, but the female “hoodies” have quite an awesome head crest themselves. I took this photo on a cold, windy New England winter day birding the local reservoir about a mile from my house, and the choppy waters made for some fun light splashing on these Mergansers!
