Description

This is the second bald cardinal who has visited our feeders between December 2013 and February 2014. He comes regularly during the day, feeds for long periods and seems otherwise healthy. We have had bald blue jays at the end of the Summer but have never seen this amongst our cardinal population in the Winter. We often have as many as eight cardinals at our feeders at a time. I wish the picture was better but it was through a glass door at dusk and it was snowing…as usual.
