Description

This is the fifth winter this bird has been living in my woods. He has developed gray spots this year, but I’m sure it’s the same bird. This seems to be a a long lifespan in the wild. How long do they normally live?

Hi Douglas, in case you aren’t aware, this bird is leucistic. Leucism is a condition affecting pigmentation in the body, which causes white patches. Also, Juncos live for 3-11 years. So you could be seeing this guy for many more years to come!

I have a all white headed junco at my feeder hanging with other juncos. This is the second year it has appeared. Sat patiently in my garden and got a picture of it. Hope to see it many more years.
