In the middle of doing my usual Monday morning count, I was surprised to see a new House Finch I had never seen here before–an Orange Morph Male! It was quite a day because shortly before seeing this “life bird’, I also saw a White-Crowned Sparrow in one of our window boxes for a just a few short minutes–another unusual bird for our yard!
Note from FeederWatch staff—yellow or orange coloration in House Finches is a normal coloration. Reds and yellows are determined by diet. You can learn more about House Finch color on our website.
