Hi Dee, Please do not pick up or handle a wild bird unless you have the proper federal permits or are under the direction of someone who does – such as a wildlife rehabilitator or wildlife veterinarian. Sick birds can be left alone, but if you are particularly concerned, please call you local wildlife rehabilitator for advice. If you’re not sure who that is, contact your state’s wildlife agency, who should have a list of federally certified individuals in your state.
