I photograph many finches at my feeders, but I’ve never seen one with this distinctive red spot on its bill. I would like to know what it is and if it’s normal, or if the bird is injured or ill.
Deformed bill
Female house finch has a red spot on her bill. Never seen that before. Is it normal?
Have you seen the spot on her bill for multiple days in a row? If not, it could be a piece of berry or something just stuck on it.
I think its a berry
