I noticed this bird at my backyard feeder this afternoon. It looks like a goldfinch, but more mottled coloring, a bright orange beak, and black “eyebrows”. Then I noticed it had a leg band. Is there a way to find out who is tracking it? I couldn’t get close enough to see numbers or letters or anything on it. But maybe someone will recognize the markings.

Hey Karen, the orange beak is normal. In summer, AMGO’s have orange beaks, in winter it is gray. This bird looks like it might be molting, although I’m not certain.
