Description

This unusual bird has appeared around my feeder for a month or so. I have never been able to get a good look at it until recently. I would get a glimpse of what looked like a white faced cardinal until I was able to get a picture. I am anxious to know what it is.

Hi Henry, this is known as leucism. Leucism is the partial loss of pigments in an animal which results in white, pale, or patchy coloration. It is a genetic mutation. This bird is indeed a female Cardinal.
