Unusual Bird: Female Northern Flicker with AKD
Additional images:
I’ve seen this female Northern Flicker for about 4 months sporadically at the feeders or in the yard. She seems to be surviving even with the deformed beak. She is either a Intergrade yellow-shafted x red shafted or a pure Yellow-shafted Flicker. I have not been able to get very good close-up looks to determine which. When she flies you can see her underwings are all yellow. There are other red-shafted intergrades that come to the feeders as well.
