Unusual Bird: Redpoll with white on head & neck
Additional images:
We have observed this redpoll at our home outside of Boulder Junction yesterday and today (March 18 & 19, 2022). We are wondering if it is a partial albino, some other plumage irregularity or could it represent hybridization with some other species, perhaps a rosy finch. We recognize that you may not be answer definitively and that the pictures are not ideal.
Thanks,
Steve & Deb Halverson

Great find! Actually, this condition is called leucism. It’s basically albinism but it’s only a partial loss of pigmentation. And your photos are great!
