Unusual Bird: Uniquely coloured Pine Grosbeak

This is a Pine Grosbeak that comes with our many others daily to feed. Such interesting head markings! Is this a genetic alteration, or a certain cross-breed? (my husband thinks he might be an offspring of a grosbeak – laplandlongspur mate last year??) just joking.
