Unusual Bird: White crowned sparrow with mostly white head

White crowned sparrow seen multiple days with a mostly white head with black splotches, and prominent white markings on its back. Not sure if it’s maybe recovering from a fright moult as there’s more black visible on its head now than there was a few days ago (previously looked like it was wearing a white helmet with just a few random black splotches). Previous photos didn’t come out well though since I’m taking them through binoculars … it was closer tonight so I was able to get some better ones.
