First record for Canada for Hawfinch. Seen Dec 14 and then photographed Dec 29.
There was a bird very like a Hawfinch, (same size), which had black and grey feathers,; a black beak, and pinkish legs. It was eating seed on the ground in a friends garden. My friends house is isolated and is surrounded by farmland, and there are woods nearby. I would be most grateful for help in identifying this bird. Thank you. Elizabeth
