Description

During the course of the winter my son has indicated to me that he occasionally sees a strange looking woodpecker with an orange crown on its head. I finally managed to catch a quick glimpse of it yesterday and this morning. I believe it’s a Red-Bellied Woodpecker. I’ve lived here 12 years and have never seen one before. After checking online I get the impression they are not typically seen around these parts. Sorry for the poor quality of picture. My wife only had a brief few seconds to take a picture before it flew off. According to my son, he doesn’t seem to stay very long when he visits each time. I’ll try to get a better picture of it soon. GPS Co-ordinates 46.728973, -84.264783. Thx.
