Description

This guy is in charge. He’s quite a bit bigger / longer than the other visitors to my feeder. The other regulars look to be Annas but this guy is sufficiently different so I’m not sure exactly what kind he is.

He plants himself on the feeder, on a nearby line or the patio cover to keep others from “his” feeder, but last night I had the rare privilege of seeing him and three Annas eating together at dusk. They were doing their pre-torpor tank up! It was quite a sight. Sadly, I didn’t have my camera handy.

His body is very green and his head looks black but is a brilliant raspberry color in bright light.
