Description

Honeybees have suddenly swarmed my feeders, driving away all birds. Does anyone know what to do about this problem?

Temp went above 50 degrees in Storrs, CT today. Swarms of honeybees followed. They have inundated my feeders and the birds are afraid to feed. I cleaned out the old corn and replaced it with sunflower seeds and mealworms. Still they persist. Anyone know what to do? Don't want to hurt the bees but I didn't spend tons of food for them. :-)

Do you have any sweet smelling aromas in or around your feeders? Are your solid feeders below any Hummingbird feeders filled with sweet nectar? You might want to contact the conservation office near you, maybe, they can put you in touch with bee keepers that would be glad to help you with this.
