This is a Red-shouldered Hawk that has been frequenting my yard looking for food. I thought it was a Cooper’s Hawk, but was informed by Cornell, via a submission, of its true species. I have never seen this species in my area before. I wish the photo was clearer but it was shot from 100 feet away.
