We started seeing this Red-shouldered Hawk a couple of weeks ago. He sits very high in one of the oak trees checking out all the birds who are enjoying our nine feeders and two bird baths. We’ve seen him give chase, but have not actually witnessed an attack. We have also seen Sharp-Shinned, Cooper’s, and Red-Tailed Hawks (a family of five) in this neighborhood!
Predatory birds
This Red-Shouldered Hawk seems to have decided to start hanging out in our yard. I have nine bird feeders, so there are lots of birds every day (and lots of squirrels as well). I've seen a couple of chases but no actual kill (yet)!
