Description

Gulls are notorious omnivores. Here on the Olympic Peninsula, I’ve seen our Glaucous-winged Gulls eating starfish, shellfish, octopus, and even seaweed. This gull captivated me when it picked up a whole Heart Cockle. Sometimes gulls drop shellfish onto rocks to crack them open. I think they’ve learned to do this from the crows!
