male Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker (Sphyrapicus varius) at the Suet feeder on 12/6/2014.

We seldom see this lovely bird on our property (maybe twice in 17 years) , and have never seen it on a feeder until Saturday..

For those you don’t already know, you can identify it as a male by the red throat. The female’s throat is white.
