I have been searching to identify 5 birds I saw on a lawn in Aberdeen NJ several years ago without luck. They were cardinal size with longish legs slender beaks and beige
spots on chest with dark beige to brown backs and tops of their heads. The most
unusual feature to me were the two black bands circling their necks with a wider bright orange band in between from top black band to the lower black band.
I cannot find any pictures of a similar bird. Does this description fit any bird you know?
