I usually had 1 or 2 skunks that came in the evening to munch on birdseed. On this particular night the big stinker had already been and gone. Then I saw the raccoon helping himself – it was amusing to watch him feel with his paws without looking at the ground! Next thing I see is the smaller stinker come under the neighbours fence and have a standoff! The stinker stomped his feet and the raccoon snarled but they finally both gave in and ate together for a few minutes! All the while my cat was a casual observer from her fence-top perch.
