Description

This photo of a Northern Flicker (Yellow-Shafted) was taken in our backyard in Andover MN in January 2012. In addition to the plug suet feeder, we have a square wire feeder with homemade suet, as well as a large black-oil sunflower seed feeder. It’s always a treat to see the yellow-shafted flickers at our home as they don’t show up as often as some of the other woodpeckers. Our backyard is surrounded by about 8 acres of marshland so we get a large sampling of bird species, including a pair of pileated woodpeckers who occasionally bring a baby in to feed.
