Description

We had a very cold wet May here in Toronto, Ontario. Wet snow and steady rain for a few days made it difficult for spring migrants to find food. We hosted 22 Baltimore Orioles for a few days until the weather improved and the birds moved on. It was crazy! I couldn’t keep up with them all in our couple feeders so I drove nails through a slab of wood and staked the gutted oranges to it, and filled them with grape jelly. It was becoming costly rather quickly and my mom brought over more jelly and oranges to help us help the birds. Three Orchard Orioles also joined the feeding frenzy, which was a new backyard species for us.
