Description

Julius, the banded male Baltimore Oriole. He first arrived in my yard on 12/23/2023 during a deep freeze — my suet log and heated birdbath drew him in. He was banded by a licensed bird bander on 1/15/2023 and stuck around until late March 2023 (grape jelly/nectar offered regularly). He reappeared on 10/4/2023 but only stayed 10 days. I thought he may have migrated further south, but then he reappeared on 11/23/23 and is still here (with 2 female/imm. male BAORs) as of 12/9/2023. I’m sooo obsessed with this gorgeous bird!!!

Correction: Julius’ first appearance was 12/23/2022 (not 2023). As of 12/21/23, he and 3 female companions are still visiting my oriole feeders daily!
