Description

Out of nowhere they appeared one day, taking over an active suet feeder. Sheer numbers and sheer force as they attack for however long they want and then they’re off. They return and repeat several times during the day. Fun birds to watch, very focused and don’t notice me 18 inches away but separated by a window.

Bushtit Banquet

Bushtits attack a suet feeder en masse, a dozen or more, in and out, leaving others like titmice and juncoes to wait them out. Can't fight a swarm of these guys who dive in for 10-15 minutes and take off in unison. Later they come back. This was taken in Mariposa, Calif., in early January, 2016.
