Description

These Juncos provide a fine example of ground-foraging birds choosing to stay in the shadows while foraging. They selectively stay in the shadows of neighboring tree limbs, or my garage, as long as they can.
I presume it’s because they’ve learned that being in the shade will make them harder to spot by predators like hawks.
