Blue Jay (juvenile)
Molting adult. Not a juvenile
I was not sure- but my quick research said gray upper body and no crest. I have seen a lot of molting jays with bald heads – but this bird seemed to be different. Where did I go wrong?
This bird is starting to molt (in other words, he’s losing his head feathers). Juveniles look like adults but are smaller with gray heads.
