Description

This Cooper’s Hawk failed to catch the Mourning Dove that it attacked. He settled on a branch to calm down. My yard was completely empty of wildlife after he arrived. He stayed for 20 minutes-giving me an opportunity to take some photos. Since it was the first time I had really seen a Hawk up close, I was delighted to spend some time with this bird.
I used Bird ID app to identify it. I read a few articles and decided that Cooper’s was correct. Sure hope I made the right call. The fact that they do like to eat Mourning Doves helped me decide.
