Species: Pileated Woodpecker
Where do Pilated WPs go in winter? I saw one pecking for grubs on my old tree stump in August and heard few times. What is their main diet?
Hello Ronald, thank you for reaching out. Pileated Woodpeckers are non-migratory and stay where they live (northern parts of North America) all year round. They may occasionally come to feeder setups offering suet, peanuts, mealworms, and more. They typically forage for insects, wild fruits, and nuts.
