Description

This Red-bellied Woodpecker was kind enough to hang upside down on the feeder on January 2, 2018 to show us why he’s called a “red-bellied” woodpecker. The small red patch is visible on his “belly” beneath the feeder. This was during the snow storm the first week of the year. We don’t usually see this species at the feeder, at least not very often.
