I believe this is a Sharp-shinned Hawk. His (or her) tail is more square than rounded. He came into my yard on Christmas Eve and snagged a Dark Eyed Junco who had been feed on some bird seed I had spread on the ground. I saw him again today but he was unsuccessful in catching a meal. I suspect I will be seeing more of him in the coming days.
