Thanks, Bob! There were 2 chickadees in that bush, just out of the frame. They were chattering away, but they must have known there just wasn’t enough room for the hawk to maneuver enough to grab them.

That’s a mistake a number of birds make when up against a Sharp-shinned.

Lucky for the chickadees, this juvenile hasn’t quite mastered the close quarter hunting skills.

Thank you, Olivia! Yes, he left a little disappointed.. course, we did chase him off.
